McBride Takes Her One-Of-A-Kind Christmas Spectacular On Tour For A Second Consecutive Year!
CMA and ACM Top Female Vocalist of the Year, Martina McBride is returning to the road with her celebrated Christmas spectacular. This will mark the second year for Martina to bring this multi-media theatrical event complete with dazzling sets, brilliant lights and impressive special effects, to her fans. Gillette Passion Venus Presents Martina McBride's The Joy of Christmas will kick off on November 28th and wrap on December 22nd. The Gillette Company's Passion Venus razor joins this year as sponsor of the entire tour.
"I dreamed of creating a Christmas show that the fans could make a part of their holiday season year after year, explained Martina McBride. It really is a huge undertaking but it is so much fun to do. We developed a show that includes many elements. There's theater, video, special effects and huge sets but the part that I enjoy the most is interacting with people in the audience and doing story time with the children. If feels like a family gathering and I'm really looking forward to that again."
Last year's tour was an unquestionable success with many of the shows selling out and critics raving about the performances. The Chicago Sun-Times wrote, "The singer was a delightful hostess, whether she was chatting with the crowd, leading a sing-along or nailing an extended note during "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," and the News-Gazette gushed, "With a voice like an angel and the backing of a multimedia stage show, this country music diva delivered a wallop, Santa Style, and called it "a holiday-themed breath of fresh air."
The Evansville Courier and Press named it, "a wonderful evening of music and entertainment and perfect way to begin the holiday season."
The ever changing film backdrops, state of the art enormous digital projections and extravagant set designs are only a part of the large scale theatrical experience. Martina also brings along a full returning troupe of actors who play multiple roles and reenact live action scenes from bustling city streets to Santa's workshop and even a live nativity scene. The two-hour program also features caroling with the children in the audience and of course, Martina McBride performing all the season's classic songs.
"Every once in a great while, a supremely gifted artist comes along and sets a course into uncharted territory, creating something which hasn't been attempted before," said Bud Schaetzle, the show's director and producer. "Last year, Martina and her 'Christmas team' did just that -- and she wound up sharing a unique Christmas vision with enthusiastic audiences all over the country. At the end of each show -- after Martina had thrilled everyone with her glorious voice and her personal warmth and charm -- it was a gratifying thing to watch smiling people pull on their coats, wrap their arms around each other and head off to their homes and their own holiday traditions. We hope that in year two, people will look forward to continuing this new yuletide tradition."
